While we wait for spring to actually spring forth, Miu Miu’s second ever perfume launch is adding some lightness, brightness and floral femininity to these grey days. Following on from the success of the 2015 launch of the eponymously named fragrance, Miu Miu L’Eau Bleue is a fresher take on the original lily of the valley juice. Like a breeze blowing in through an open window, the scent is that of succulent green flower stems, grass crushed underfoot on a spring walk, lily of the valley and honeysuckle carried by the wind. But there’s an earthy base in there too, like its predecessor, the Akigalawood based gives L'eau Bleue its bite.

Miu Miu’s master nose, Daniela Andrier has tried to bottle “that specific moment, seemingly out of nowhere, when you realise that spring has arrived”. And indeed she succeeds, this is a light and dewy fragrance, perfect for the “blunt and coy, playful and rebellious, timeless and adventurous” Miu Miu woman. With the signature matelassé pattern and pop of colour carried across from the original Miu Miu bottle, the glinting and light-refracting transparence lends it more whimsy. The yellow cap, round like a lemon bon-bon, looks good enough to eat, which is just what we expect from Miu Miu: light, thoughtful with the perfect measure of frivolity.

Miu Miu L'eau Bleue, 30ml for £49 / 50ml for £69 / 75ml for £96, is available exclusively to Harrods and nationwide from 29 March.
