This year’s edition of the London Short Film Festival includes a special programme curated by the London College of Fashion that celebrates the harmonious collisions of film, music and fashion. This Sunday, LCF showcases  two interactive events at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, to present the most powerful music-and-film projects created by their students and alumni from across disciplines including photography and fashion media production.

The first event called The Sound of [Fashion] Music is a presentation of short fashion films that laud the symbiotic relationship between the worlds of fashion and music. And the outcomes are as thematically colourful as you can imagine – from a short music video-like diversity campaign called #NOLABELFITSALL all directed by Nieke Reinds, to a beautiful slow-motion hybrid of wrestling and dance by photographer and filmmaker Harun Guler.

The second event, Fashion Adventures In The Sonic Landscape, goes deeper into the interjection of multimedia and style. With multi-sensory projections curated by LCF and Domino Recordings, the focus is on creating an immersive experience – artists Harriet Fleuriot and Sarah Cockings will remix their project Plasma Vista with live sound from Luke Fraser and performance from Miss Cairo, and interactive sculptures from Laurence Symonds. The Words by Women awards photographer of the year 2016, Olivia Rose, will bring out the grime through an exhibition of photographic work for Hattie Collins’ book This is Grime.

If the Hayward Gallery exhibition Infinite Mix sparked your interest, the LCF and LSFF collaboration seems like the perfect opportunity to break away from the established art scene and explore the up-and-coming talent in music, film and fashion of tomorrow. As the creative director of the School of Media and Communication at London College of Fashion, Nilgin Yusuf says: "We want to celebrate the idea that fashion is not something that happens in isolation. It's something that's really inter-related into lots of different things, and that's what makes it interesting."

The LCF x LSFF events are taking place at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, The Mall, St. James's, London SW1Y 5AH. The Sound of Fashion starts at 4pm, followed by Fashion Adventures In The Sonic Landscape at 5pm. Find out more information about the events and book your tickets at ica.org.uk.
