Is fake the new original? In the latest attempt to answer this question of contemporary luxury, Alexander Wang teams up with adidas Originals for the second time and creates a set of clothes that will be desired by streetwear fanatics around the world. By inverting both the adidas Originals trefoil logo and the signature three stripes, Wang has joined brands like Vetements and Gucci in celebrating the art of fake originals.

After the monochromatic debut in true Wang style, the second drop of the collaborative line is bringing a bit more colour into the story. Burgundy and navy join black in a capsule collection of four signature items in three colourways – a zip-up jacket, shorts, a crop top and, tracksuit bottoms, all clearly unisex. We can even see young, long-haired skateboarders rocking the crop tops. Told through a simple colour story with only the inverted stitchings adorning the Tricot textile, the pieces are the perfect merging of the two aesthetics. Wang’s downtown street attitude meets the timeless sporty spirit of adidas Originals in 12 pieces that could easily pass both as high-fashion streetwear and street-inspired high fashion. And so they will.

The collection called The Flip Pack is launching on the March 1, exclusively at seven global luxury retailers including Barney’s in New York and Paris’ Colette, following a second launch on March 4 at select adidas Originals and Alexander Wang flagship locations (including the London one) and online at www.adidas.com/originals and www.alexanderwang.com. Queues are guaranteed.
