How to achieve the French look. It’s the one thing us London girls have forever been trying to attain. However close we come, we can’t quite nail it, and so we need to ask: do they possess that je ne sais quoi that we just don’t? Is it the bobs? The signature red lip? The neck scarfs? How are they so chic!? The secret has never been clear but maybe this new launch from VIOLETTE_FR will bring us one step closer to achieving our goals. Bring in… the Bisou Jelly! The glossy, balm-meets-lipstick hybrid inspired by French desserts.
If you aren’t familiar with VIOLETTE_FR, let's bring you up to speed. Founded by makeup artist Violette known for her signature just-bitten lip look, Violette has built a reputation as a beauty innovator. As the Global Makeup Creative Director for Guerlain and founder of VIOLETTE_FR, she brings nearly two decades of experience to her own brand, which focuses on combining artistry with clean, vegan ingredients. You may also recognise Violette from pretty much any social media platform where she has nurtured a cult following of beauty lovers who consider her beauty tutorials borderline biblical and after using the Bisou Jelly we can see why.
After five years in development, Bisou Jelly is ready to take centre stage of the Bisou line, offering a unique blend of luxury, hydration, and buildable colour. The formula is a two-in-one marvel: the pigmented core delivers a wash of colour, while the jelly outer layer—infused with Vitamin E and emollients—gives lips a glossy finish without feeling sticky. It’s designed to make lips look fuller and more voluminous, thanks to its light-reflecting jelly that accentuates the natural lip line. At first it may seem a little daunting to apply but you’ll quickly discover how its unique design offers that effortless application and achieves what some may say… that je ne sais quoi look! (yes we said it! ). The shades are as delectable as the product itself. Inspired by French confections, the lineup includes Bonbon à la Rose, a soft nude pink; Pomme d’Amour, a bright candy apple red; Bonbon Caramel, a warm caramel brown and our personal favourite shade; and Aïssa, a deep berry shade named after French actress Aïssa Maïga.
As Violette continues to innovate with each new launch, Bisou Jelly exemplifies her commitment to merging French elegance with clean beauty and we’re here for it. It became a staple in our fashion week handbags and we simply can’t stop applying. Have we just cracked the secret to the French look? Perhaps oui!
