London Craft Week launches with a new anonymous initiative which sees leading artisans, cultural influencers, and emerging talents create more than 100 vessels.

A decade ago, when London Craft Week began it set out to put creativity through exceptional craftsmanship on the map. Competing with the city's booming fashion, art and design industries, London Craft Week has well and truly found its place on London’s cultural calendar.

Since its inception, craft has witnessed a complete revival, and the festival has burgeoned in both size and significance, attracting rising audiences with the works of over 750 artisans showcased across events organised by a network of 200 partners.

Kicking off festivities this year is a new charitable initiative, Secret Ceramics, which launched at SoShiro Gallery. More than 100 unique single-stem vessels, crafted by leading artisans, cultural influencers, and emerging talents, will be available for purchase. The proceeds will support the establishment of a new ceramic studio by FiredUp4 in White City, aimed at providing underprivileged youth with the experience of working with clay.

As the name suggests, in an unexpected twist, the makers will remain anonymous until after the sale, with each vessel priced at a fixed £300. Masters in the field including Henry HollandKate Malone and Aneta Regel have contributed, alongside recent graduates and lesser-known makers on the rise. But perhaps, more unexpectedly creatives from other fields such as fashion designer Nicholas DaleyDame Zandra Rhodes and Alighieri founder Rosh Mahtani have also taken to the medium to create one-off works, and we’re excited to see what they came up with!
